Set up the MCP server

Keywordee includes an MCP server, so AI agents such as Claude or Cursor can research, track and tag keywords for you. It runs on your Mac and works only while Keywordee is open on that Mac. Prefer a terminal? The keywordee command-line tool does the same for your scripts.

Open Keywordee › Settings › AI Agents and switch on Let AI agents use Keywordee on this Mac. The status line says whether the server is running. It stays off until you switch it on, and remembers your choice.

Setting Value
Address http://127.0.0.1:7420/mcp
Token The connection token in Settings (use Copy)

If something else uses port 7420, type another port (1024 to 65535) in Port and press Return. Regenerate… makes a new token and disconnects every agent using the old one.

Keep the token private: anyone with it can read and change your keywords while Keywordee is running.

Run this in Terminal, with the token from Settings:

Terminal window
claude mcp add --transport http keywordee \
http://127.0.0.1:7420/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer <your token>"

Any other MCP client works too: point it at http://127.0.0.1:7420/mcp (Streamable HTTP) and set the header Authorization: Bearer <your token>.

More detail: Connect Claude and Connect Cursor.

Ask your agent in plain words. A few to start with:

  • “Find keyword gems for my habit tracker on iPhone and Android in the UK.”
  • “Compare popularity and difficulty for ‘meditation’ on the App Store and Google Play in the US.”
  • “Which of my tracked keywords dropped more than 5 places this week?”
  • “Suggest 20 keywords for my budgeting app in Germany, and track the best 5.”

More in Example prompts.
